Curators notice 3Q application: Joel Gustafsson Hall
Hello!
My name is Joel Gustafsson Hall and I’m running for the position of third curator. Therefore, I will tell first you first how I ended up at Östra Ågatan 13 and why this has led me now to seeking the 3Q position.
'
I wasn’t even a student when I first heard tales of Gotlands Nation. A place of parties, smörgåstårta, and log throwing. For some reason, people ate lamb skulls and considered it tradition and a cultural heritage. I was fascinated, yet appalled, by what my big brother described to me. But I had no idea how many friends, memories, cleaning days, scars and burns that I would receive after walking in those doors at Östra Ågatan 13. It wasn’t long after that that I was eagerly approached by the Election Committee seeking a club worker for the next semester. Naive as our very own “lamm”, I accepted, and I’m glad that I did. It was one of the best times of my life. While I had been around after club working, it took me a while to jump into the ringer again with Gotlands Nation, and this time it was as a responsible for the Summer pub 2020. I had a blast with my two colleagues, Felicia and Adam, and we joked that Gotlands Balcony was now the closest one could come to the Italian Riviera. A fire was stoked within me to run Gotlands in the way I saw fit (metaphorically speaking, of course, since fire safety is very important to me).
Urtima landskap is closing in, and joining the curatorship – which has before only been a vague notion for me – is now the concrete way forward. Becoming a third curator, or The Coronator™ is now what I want. In these hard times, Gotlands has remained a safe and dependable place for us all. A place where drinks can be drunk, friends bond, and even a “smörgåstårta” enjoyed. As your possible, hypothetical, potential, future 3Q my goal is to keep nation functions open as long as can be - in a responsible manner, of course. Hopefully, in our 340th anniversary year, our mission won’t be just to survive, but indeed to thrive.
See you at the Landskap!
Bäääääääähhhh! – Joel
