Like glimpses of light in the hard semester study, the semester's gasques stand out in the calendar. A gasque is student language for dinner followed by dancing. The dinner consists of about three courses and requires a certain conformity in the behaviour of the guests. In other words, manners and etiquette

For example, the clothing. At the gasques, 'suit' is specified. This means a dark suit and tie or knee-length dress. At a ball, "ceremonial dress" is recommended, which means a long dress, tuxedo or mess dress. A folk costume is also acceptable.

Next, the time of the start of the gasque. This is often followed by a "dk". It means double quarter and means that the guests should be ready to go to the table half an hour after the specified time. Before that, the pre-drink should preferably be finished.

Gasques are an opportunity to talk to your table neighbours in a pleasant atmosphere and make new acquaintances. The rules are designed to facilitate clean behaviour. Thus, intoxication should not be more than appropriate during dinner. After that, you do as you please.

Reccegasque

Reccegasque is arranged every autumn and spring for all the nation's new students, but older students are of course also welcome. In the autumn we stay at Gotlands nation, but in the spring the gasque is arranged together with one or more other nations and we sometimes stay at Gotlands. A perfect way to get to know new friends at the beginning of the study semester!

Crayfish party

The Crayfish party is organised every late summer, in early September or late August. It's all about crayfish tails and claws and, of course, many fond reunions after the long summer.

Tefatsgasquen

Tefatsgasquen is a winter battle between the nations of Gotland, Västgöta and Värmland. Hard fight in Slottsbacken during the day and reconciliation dinner at Gotlands in the evening. Usually organised in March.

Mitterminsgasque

.

Mitterminsgasque is arranged in the middle of the semester, both in autumn and spring. Often there is a theme at these gasques and we have experienced hippie theme, schlager theme, autumn theme, sea battle theme, tasteless theme, etc.

The Lambskallegasque

.

The Lambskallegasque is probably the gasque that Gotland (and Uppsala!) is best known for. Everything barbaric you've heard about the gasque is true! We eat lamb skulls and stick the eye of the skull in the schnapps! They also serve associated "cultural drinks". A gasque that all students in Uppsala must experience at some point! Organised in November.

Luccegasquen

.

Luccegasque is the most cosy gasque of the year. It is organised on a day around Lucia and features a sumptuous Christmas table, Lucia performances and a cosy Christmas party!

Sillunch

.

Sillunch is organised on Valborg. Herring and schnapps with a view of Forsränningen. Later in the day, a champagne gallop is also arranged with one of Uppsala's most popular gathering places on a sunny Valborg

May dinner

.

May dinner is organised on May Day and is one of the most enjoyable dinners of the year. It is not uncommon for the chef to offer a fancy five-course menu. Before the dinner, there is a wreath-laying ceremony at the national grave in Uppsala's old cemetery, with singing by the choir and a speech by the inspector.

The Spring Ball

.

The Spring Ball is the grandest party of the year. The whole of Uppsala is in the Spring Ball mood and so are we in Gotland. Tails and ball gowns are a requirement, but otherwise everyone is welcome! Organised at the end of May.
